Individual, Couples, Family and Group Therapy

"Self-awareness is a supreme gift, a treasure as precious as life."
~ Irvin Yalom

We are inundated by messages about who we are and how we fit in this world, and it can be difficult to sort out what is true and what is false in order to see our true selves, purpose, and meaning in life. This is often complicated by significant experiences of loss, trauma, abuse, addiction, and anxiety, as well as the challenges of living with a mental health issue such as depression or bipolar disorder.

In our sessions, I strive to create an intimate counseling relationship by building trust through compassion and empathy. Every client is unique; you bring strengths and challenges with you. I will help you use your strengths to accomplish your goals and create a more satisfying life, and to process your experiences in a way that supports your own journey of building self-awareness and finding deeper contentment.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor working with adults and adolescents in the Houston area. I do individual, couples, and family counseling in addition to facilitating group therapy.

I have years of experience working with a wide variety of mental health disorders and treating substance abuse issues. My specialty is the treatment of Bipolar Disorder. My goal is to help you live a happier, more fulfilling life. I work closely with your psychiatrist in order to help ensure that you are receiving the best treatment possible in a holistic way. I will help you manage your illness by developing coping skills that make the day to day challenges you face far more manageable.

No matter how severe your illness may be, do not give up hope! Bipolar disorder and other mental health challenges are treatable! Reading this shows that you are on the road to recovery, and with your willingness and participation I can help guide you on your journey. Accepting that you have an illness is the first step, and I invite you to walk with me, as fellow travelers, down the path to wellness.
I am trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, and will tailor your therapy to your specific needs and goals for our work together to help you remove any roadblocks to your recovery. I will attentively listen as you process in order to meet you where you are and offer feedback that respects and honors your culture and values.

I do family of origin work, as childhood patterns play out in your daily life; some of these patterns are roadblocks to recovery, while others are important strengths that will carry you through this process.

I am experienced in psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, group therapy, and have completed Level 2 Gottman couples counseling training. I am a certified Daring WayTM facilitator, based on the research of Brené Brown , Ph. D, LMSW, and grounded in her work on shame, vulnerability, and authenticity.

I have wide experience working with diverse populations. Prior to entering private practice I have counseled homeless women recovering from trauma and addiction, adolescents in the foster care system, LGBT individuals, and victims of sexual assault in various settings.
My fee for therapy is $150 per hourlong session. Fees are payable at time of service by cash, check, or credit card.

Please contact me for information and rates for group therapy.

I do not currently accept insurance, but will provide an invoice that can be submitted for out-of-network benefits to your provider.
